Peer Network

A further aim of IMPACT is the further development of existing networks and the establishment of new networks that connect researchers at all qualification levels across the university, but also on a subject-specific basis.

Many researchers at the UoC who deal with analytical perspectives on gender and diversity are members of the GeStiK network. This network is interdisciplinary and regularly invites researchers to exchange ideas and attend events.

In addition to this university-wide network, subject-specific networking is central to integrating structures for the implementation of intersectional gender aspects in research. The IMPACT peer networks contribute to (1) strengthening researchers, e.g. through additional visibility and reach and the further development of scientific expertise through (inter)disciplinary exchange with other researchers. (2) Recruit researchers as multipliers and mentors in order to raise awareness of intersectional gender perspectives in research questions in the various disciplines and across the university.

IMPACT will support the formation and strengthening of peer networks during the project period. The following peer network already exists:

AG Sex, Gender and Diversity in Medical Research

Gestik (Gender Studies in Köln) Netzwerk

We also support the annual IMPACT research workshops interdisciplinary networking. The focus is on the opportunities and challenges of integrating intersectional gender perspectives in a) research questions, b) methods, c) analyses and d) third-party funding applications.

An interdisciplinary two-day IMPACT symposium will also be organized in the middle of the project period (2026) for professional networking between the recruited and potential fellows, the university-wide IMPACT peer network, the subject-specific networks and the interested public.
